Based out of Whitehorse, I serve Yukoners and Northern British Columbians with Professional Forestry, Wildfire and Project Management consulting services. I am a graduate from the University of New Brunswick where I acquired my Bachelor of Science in Forestry and Environmental Management. I am a licensed Registered Professional Forester in British Columbia where I worked as a Forest Engineer and Production Supervisor for private logging industry on Vancouver Island. In Yukon, I worked as a Regional Protection Manager and Fuels Management Forester for the Wildfire Service.
With over a decade of experience in these fields, I have managed many complex projects ranging from harvest/road planning and implementation to emergency management and community wildfire fuels management planning.
I work on the principles of results-based systems, sound forest stewardship and providing quality, reliable service as a consultant and leader. My goal is to bring my industry driven mindset and understanding of government operation to work diligently for clients to achieve the results and outcomes they desire.
Building the long-term Strategic vision and breaking it down into mid-term Tactical and short-term Operational plans to guide your business decisions.
Leveraging my knowledge of Wildfire tactics and operational efficiencies in fuel/forest management, I will assist in creating a tailored Wildfire Protection Plan that will serve the communities' unique needs.
Field based practical knowledge to ensure values are identified, field marking is established, operational constraints are considered and robust harvest/road instructions are provided to clearly illustrate the required work from the operator to upper management meeting all required legislation.
I have completed several submissions as required by the Yukon Environmental and Socio-Economic Assessment Act for forestry related projects all of which were approved. My goal is to prepare these focused on a results-based detail while ensuring operational and economic efficiencies are not hindered.
Full range of expertise from initial reconnaissance, field layout & design, planning & execution, emergency response, construction & supervision, maintenance, rehabilitation planning & implementation.
Working for the Wildfire Service has given me the knowledge, practical experience and certification to fulfill many operational, logistical and Duty Officer roles regardless of the emergency response needs at hand by following the Incident Command System.
Whether taking on a new project under time and resource constraints, or looking to increase the efficiencies and productivity of your organization, my philosophy is that the proper structures and systems must be in place to empower your most valuable resource - your team. My focus is to work with organizational leaders to assess the systems and structures in place, identify redundancies and opportunities to continually improve while enhancing the well-being of staff to take greater ownership, think innovatively and be the drivers of success.
Technical planning review; field inspections & innovative problem-solving. Opportunity for office or field-based training/shadowing to increase knowledge, expertise and proficiency.
Any of my professional experience may be passed on to staff through hands-on, field-based learning or shadowing opportunities either in one-on-one or group settings.
